Winter Light

Winter Light

Oct 23rd 2023 Staff

Yes, winter is on its way. We’re raking leaves, cleaning gutters and packing up warm weather clothes. Our days are filled with a lot less light, and the evenings are already cold. We’re turning on the lights at home, all of them, and still, it’s kind of dark in the house, isn’t it? If we have a specialty, it’s how to make every room feel filled with a lovely light. Each season it varies a bit. But in winter our techniques are on full display. We add mirrors in strategic places to reflect daylight into your room. A singular splash of color like this marigold hued vase warms light. A new lamp that adds both style and light. This is the time of year to shift your things, use them in unexpected ways, and add a few new pieces to brighten your spaces. Adding light as we prep for winter means so much. Light mixed with light makes a room feel better in winter. Amplify winter’s light during the day and early evening with a mix of overhead light in a specific area of the kitchen and family room. Add pendants over a table, a nightstand, and the kitchen island. And lamps are the unsung hero. Place them near conversation areas, a reading nook, and as welcoming evening light in a foyer. Transition the light’s brightness with dimmer switches to give you more light inside as darkness falls outside. Our lighting experts can help you layer your light like a pro.
