A Kitchen’s Heart & Soul

We’re talking kitchens this fall. In the first 2 blogposts we talked about basics: what is your kitchen shape and size? How do you use your kitchen? We’ve talked about the types of light used throughout your spaces within your kitchen. Pendants, recessed light, chandeliers and sconces, what should you choose for the best light? In this 3rd post of the series we’re talking process. Fashion and trends are part of it. But how do you update and refresh your space placing your personal style at the heart of it?

Some customers know exactly what they want. They come to Madison Lighting with a kitchen plan in hand, complete with pictures of the fixtures they want, and place an order with a lighting expert. Other customers have an interior designer shopping with them and for them. Together they work through their plan for the kitchen in our showroom, tapping our lighting experts to track down fixtures and switches. But there are customers that know it’s time for a change but they’re unsure where to start. Madison Lighting’s experts have a big impact with these customers, listening to concerns and working through challenges, lending advice and inspiration. The results? Some really beautiful kitchens.

Where to start?Call it a mind-map, call it blue sky thinking, we say just start dreaming. What do you love, what’s your personal style? Write it down! Take another step from there and make a list of what you use your kitchen for. If you’re super active and cook simply so you can get back outside you may want a very minimalist kitchen that works for you. Do you love to cook? Your countertops are always in action and support all kinds of tasks from cookie baking to cookin’ up a pot of your favorite sauce. Maybe your kitchen is a family gathering space for casual meals, homework, and late-night snacks. Knowing your want list helps us create lighting areas in your kitchen for the things you do there.

What’s your budget? Is this a complete remodel right down to the studs? Or will you keep the cabbies and swap out the countertops? New Lighting! Fresh paint and perhaps a new tile backsplash? New hardware? You’ll want to make a budget with categories for each area you’ll be refreshing. Do your research so you have workable, realistic budgets.

Bring your ideas and your pictures and our lighting experts will help you organize your lighting plan. You can even make an appointment here. We have lighting in every style and finish so you can combine metals, add wood, leather or glass. Fashionable lighting will bring your style into your kitchen. Beautiful lighting that will help you make use of every inch of space. Undercabinet lighting, recessed lighting, pendants for the island, and another over the kitchen sink. Wall lighting to accent a piece of art or a collection of your fave pottery. It’s all here at Madison Lighting. Let’s get started.
