In the April issue of House Beautiful magazine there’s a bathroom remodel that took our breath away. The architect describes it as, “edited and uncluttered.” Well, that’s an understatement; the entire room is faced with marble, quietly veined in soft shades of grey. The walk-in shower, bathroom walls, vanity drawers and counter are all faced in the same marble and it’s anything but boring. It’s expansive and soothing. With “visual interruptions at a minimum,” the candlelit bronze sconces take the stage pushing it to the vintage side. But when you use a single material to cover every surface it could be anything from Frank Lloyd Wright to Hollywood. The lesson here? Taking one element to an extreme can make a small space serene and simple.
