Choosing Your Fixture
As you are on the hunt for a new dining room lighting fixture, you will have a wide variety of options, but chandeliers are usually your best bet. There are tons of styles and sizes to fit in almost any room, and they will provide plenty of ambient light for you and your guests.
To find a fixture that is neither too large or too small for your room, you will first need to find the length and width of your dining room. When you provide one of our team members with this info as well as your design ideas, we will be able to help you find a chandelier that is just the right size and shape for your dining room.
During your search, you will need to make sure that your chandelier will provide enough ambient light to the whole room. There is a simple equation to help you find the right amount of wattage necessary to fill your space with light. Take the square footage of your room, and multiply that number by 1.5, and this will be the minimum wattage necessary for your dining room. Simply put, if your dining room is 20’x20’, you have a square footage of 400 feet. Multiplied by 1.5, you will need a fixture that can provide at least 600 watts to give you enough ambient light for every corner.
